Site Setup & Customization

Ready to get started on your customization journey? Don't worry—this guide will help you through each step to make sure your new template looks just the way you want. If you're new to Webflow, or just need some pointers, I've linked to helpful videos along the way to make the process as smooth as possible.
New to Webflow?
Checkout the Webflow 101 Course. Before diving into the customization process, it's a good idea to get familiar with Webflow’s platform. This will give you a solid foundation of how Webflow works, so you can feel confident as you move forward with customizing your site.
Customizing the Style Guide
The Style Guide is where the magic happens!  This template is built using the Relume.io framework, a powerful design system for Webflow that helps speed up the web design process with pre-built components and styles. This is where you’ll update your fonts, colors, and other essential design elements that control the look and feel of your site. Don’t worry—it’s all laid out for you.
Here’s where you can:
  • Update Fonts: Choose your brand’s fonts and make sure they’re applied to all the right places.

  • Change Colors: Modify the color scheme for the entire site using Webflow's variables feature, ensuring that your brand’s colors are consistent throughout the template.

Organizing Pages
Once you’ve got your colors and fonts in place, it’s time to take a look at the structure of your site. Webflow makes it easy to manage pages, so you can add, remove, or rearrange them based on your needs.
Updating the Navigation
Your navigation is a key part of your site’s user experience, so let's make sure it’s tailored to your content. Update your header navigation to reflect the pages you've added or removed.
Updating Copy and Images
Now it’s time to update the content! Go through each section of the template, replace the placeholder text with your own copy, and swap out any images with your own. Whether it’s changing headlines, adding details to your about page, or swapping photos, this is your chance to make the template feel like your own.
Updating Links
Next, check the links throughout your site. Make sure all internal links point to the right pages, and external links are correct. This is also a good time to ensure any buttons, forms, or CTAs (calls-to-action) are linked to the appropriate destinations.
Optimizing for Mobile & Responsive Design
Webflow does a great job of making templates responsive, meaning your site will automatically adjust for mobile and tablet views. However, it’s still a good idea to check how things look on different devices and make sure everything looks great.
Customizing CMS Items
If your template includes dynamic content (like blog posts, portfolio items, or testimonials), you’ll want to update the CMS Collections. This is where you can manage and add content that’s tied to specific templates across your site. Whether you're showcasing projects, articles, or reviews, you can easily edit or add new CMS items from the Webflow CMS panel.
Optimizing for SEO
Before hitting "publish," it's a great idea to fine-tune your site’s SEO settings. This includes adding meta titles and descriptions, setting up alt text for images, and ensuring your site structure is search-engine-friendly. With Webflow, you can easily manage SEO settings on each page.
Publishing Your Website
You’re almost there! Once everything is looking great and ready to go, it’s time to publish your site. Webflow makes this easy, and I’ll walk you through connecting your domain and hitting that publish button!
That’s it! You’ve customized your site, and now it's time to share it with the world. Remember, if you ever feel stuck, you can always revisit these resources or ask for help by emailing support@tessdemir.design. You’re well on your way to having a site that’s uniquely yours—Congratulations!
